Medieval

Medieval tapestries were produced in Western Europe from the 14th century. Regarded by connoisseurs as the most beautiful of all tapestries they were a primary form of artistic expression in the late middle ages. Fine works from the 15th and 16th centuries can still be found. Several examples are illustrated here.
