Beauvais, a Royal manufactory established in Northern France in the 17th Century (see Beauvais Tapestries), is best known for its wall tapestries.  However a small number of tapestry carpets were produced in the second half of the 18th century and a small number of Savonnerie style knotted pile carpets.
