France

France is one of the main centres for all kinds of embroidery needlework silks and velvets. Exceptional works were produced from medieval times onwards. France is famous for its embroideries – we are familiar with St Cyr and the famous workshops at the Convent of St Joseph de la Providence. The silk industry in France has an international reputation, which is maintained until this day.
