The inventory contains embroidered works from the medieval period until the twentieth century. Needlework pictures, wall panels, curtains, screens, cushions, early upholstery, coverlets, and table carpets are available.

Objects are both of historic and decorative interest.

There is a select group of woven silk and wool fabrics, including some by nineteenth and twentieth century designers such as William Morris. There is a small selection of Eastern textiles and embroideries, principally from the Mediterranean and Central Asia, made for export to European markets.
