Repeat Pattern - Small Scale

Traditional small format designs include the herati or fish-design as it is sometimes called, the boteh (paisley) or millefleurs patterns. Small-scale designs can be quiet and subtle or vibrant and dynamic – depending on the palette and the degree of contrast between motif and background. Persian city carpets from weaving centres such as Tabriz or Khorossan and Indian carpets including Agras and Amritsars often utilize smaller scale repeat patterns.
