Madrid

The Royal carpet and tapestry factory still survives in Madrid (see LEARN – Films & Podcasts).  First established in the 18th century it had, until recently, remained under the direction of  a descendant of the founder.  The workshops produced Aubusson style tapestry carpets and knotted pile carpets.  An artistic highpoint was reached in the second half of the 18th century.
